Come out to the refuge on Saturday, May 14, 2016, for a day of activities for all ages. From 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, join National Park Service staff and participate in the Assateague Global Big Day Bird Walk to identify and count birds on the way to the beach and salt marsh habitats, advance registration at the Toms Cove Visitor Center is required. At 10:00 AM, join Refuge Photographer Bill Wallen in the auditorium for an introduction to bird and wildlife photography program. Join staff from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Tuckahoe Complex Aviary for two live bald eagle presentations at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM in the refuge auditorium. At 12:30 PM, join us for the Children’s Art Contest Award Ceremony in the auditorium. Join a Park Ranger anytime from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM off the Toms Cove Visitor Center deck to see what birds the Ranger is viewing. The National Park Service, Chincoteague Bay Field Station, Salisbury Zoo, and The Chincoteague Museum will be featured as well as local wildlife artists, refreshments and more!
