Be Inclusive & Create Opportunities
Creating a diverse advisory board is an excellent way of building networks with Latino communities. Find individuals that are knowledgeable about local community issues, connected to the Latino community, and interested in diversity outreach work. Also find strategic ways of recruiting diverse staff, interns, and volunteers at your organization.
Tips: Create a community liaison volunteer position that assists you develop programs, find off-site outreach opportunities, provide translation, and find effective social marketing outlets.
Do not assume that all people of color interested in your organization want to be involved in diversity engagement work. Public affairs may not be a match for this person so it is important to offer a variety of opportunities.
