Summer is an amazing time to see and hear birds on the prairie at the Upper Mississippi National Wildlife & Fish Refuge! The Audubon Society has reported over 29 species here in July. Come learn how to identify birds by their size, shape, and color, along with listening for some of the more camouflaged grassland birds. We’ll begin by reviewing tips and tricks for using binoculars and field guides and then will go for a walk outside. We will wrap up in the Visitor Center where you will find out how to be a citizen scientist and how to enter your findings on eBird. Some binoculars will be available to borrow. People of all ages are invited to participate. Please let us know by July 2nd if you plan to join us; register with Ranger Katie Julian by calling 608-779-2391.
