The lack of ethnic diversity in the sciences has been a national issue for many years. Now, it is also a growing concern among bird conservationists. Recognizing the need to involve all cultures and ethnicities in birdwatching activities and bird conservation, educators are working to find ways to reach youth and adults in the U.S. from diverse backgrounds.
