This is a Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) position. If already graduated applicants can not have a graduation date later than Dec. 1st, 2018.
Job Description: The intern would contribute to the compilation of historical livestock grazing records within a remote set of allotments that include one Herd Management Area and provide recommendations for range improvement within these allotments. As well as, assist the Applegate Field Office Rangeland Management Staff with Rangeland Health Assessments and Riparia Function Assessments. There also may be opportunity to gain experience with other natural resource and cultural disciplines as time allows.
Start/End Date: This an 11 week internship running from the beginning of June to mid August.
Housing: To be determined.
Living conditions: The field office is in Alturas California but requires field work. Interns must be able to drive four-wheelers in back country and have the ability to hike long days in extremely rugged terrain with limited communications and extreme weather.
Vehicle: A vehicle and license are required. Must have a ATV/UTV certification or ability to gain one within 2 weeks of start date.
