How would you like to aid in ensuring the public’s safety in the longest known cave system in the world? The Air Quality Technician internship position at Mammoth Cave National Park play a vital role in supporting the park’s air quality and meteorological monitoring program!
The objectives of the internship are to provide needed support for air quality, climate monitoring, and cave meteorology stations, cave air radon monitoring, end employee and visitor safety; to support the overall meteorology mission of the park; and to provide interpretive information for the public relating to air quality and meteorological operations of the park.
Qualified applicants will have some college/university coursework in STEM field science or weather-focused field of study that may include: agriculture air quality instrumentation, atmospheric chemistry, biology, environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, GIS, industrial hygiene, meteorology, or physical science. In addition, he/she will ideally be familiar with basic GPS, Word Processing and Spreadsheets, and basic use of scientific instruments and laboratory equipment.
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent legal resident (“green-card-holder”) between the ages of 18 and 30 years old, of diverse background, or a veteran up to age 35. Prior to starting this position, a government security background clearance will be required.
