This is a Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) position. If already graduated applicants can not have a graduation date later than Dec. 1st, 2018.

Job Description: The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Southern Nevada District is responsible for managing the Logandale Trails OffHighway Vehicle Recreation Area. There were over 65,000 visits to the area in Fiscal Year 18. There are three Off-Highway Vehicle commerical tour operators permitted to conduct regular tours in the area. There are mulitple permitted recreation events that occur in the area. In support of management of the growing recreation use in the area, the BLM will be finalizing and implementing a trail sign plan for the area. Part of that plan includes development of interpretive information signs describing the trail system, responsible recreation, and important cultural and natural resources found in the area. The Recreation Intern will serve as a member of the outdoor recreation program in the Las Vegas Field Office. The intern will be expected to work independently to complete print ready files for the sign plan and two interpretive information panels. This job will require the intern to complete field visits to collect necessary data utilizing Global Positioning System, and to coordinate with the BLM outdoor recreation staff, BLM interdisciplinary staff, and partners, to describe existing data and information. The sign plan should be completed in a way that BLM staff, partners, and volunteers can easily follow directions from the plan to install trail markers and directional signs to adequately inform visitors to the area. Interpretive information signs should be completed according to BLM sign design standards. In addition, the interpretive information signs should be completed in a way that the public can easily navigate and understand the information presented.

Start/End Date: This an 11 week internship running from the beginning of June to mid August.

Housing: To be determined.

Living conditions: Work will take place using design programs on computers. Work will also take place outside visiting field sites.

Vehicle: A vehicle and license are required.

Stipend: $500/perweek.
